8-17-20 Letter to East Families

Dear East Families,
I hope this email finds you well. This has been such an odd summer but I know that you have all done your best to make it safe and happy for our students.
Please read the information below that we are currently sharing to keep our families up to date as best we can:
Here is a link to our suggested school supplies for East Elementary. This is for our in-person students. If you are choosing remote learning you don't need to purchase items that may be listed, you will be contacted by your remote teacher.

Recently the district e-mailed forms that are required before school starts. The Medical Form and COVID Parent Verification Form can be e-mailed to [email protected] instead of dropping them off at the school.

Open Houses for In-person Learners:

Our K students will have an in-person open house for our in-person learners and this will be taking place Wednesday, August 19th between 5:30 and 6:30. Kindergarten Teachers are contacting parents and setting up visitations.

Our 1st - 6th grade students will have a virtual open house scheduled for Thursday, August 20th between 5:30 - 6:30. Teachers will go live at 5:30 and again at 6:00. If you miss the 5:30 session or if you have multiple children, your child's teacher will be live again at 6:00. You will receive more information from your child's teacher on the 19th.

Remote Learners We are working on class lists and communication of those formats and that information will be coming soon.

School Building Open/Start time:

Our building will be opening at 8:20 in the morning. This year we are unable to have the playground available or students on campus until the doors are open at 8:20. This is one of our safety precautions to limit high touch areas and large assemblies of people. When your child arrives, they will come right into the building. Fortunately, this year we will be offering before school care through Tree House if you are interested in this, please contact Julie Scott at [email protected]

If your child is eating breakfast, they will enter through the back door of the cafeteria, at 8:20 grab their breakfast and head to their room. Breakfast will be in the classrooms in the morning.

Please do not leave your child on the playground before 8:20.

We are working on outdoor learning spaces. We have had 10 tents donated and will set those up so that children will have as much time outside as possible.

Thanks so much for your understanding and flexibility as we prepare to return our students to school safety. I realize it has been hard to be patient but so appreciate all your support.
You will receive more information about the first day of school procedures this week.
I am so looking forward to seeing all the students again! Be safe beautiful families!
