Mrs. Peterman teaches all the reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar for both sections of 6th grade.  This is where students & parents can see daily assignments, links to content and any other general information about 6th grade ELA.

Tomorrow- Read a Thon - bring a small pillow, blanket or stuffed animal  - we will read for 2 hours at some point in our day!  
Detroit Sports Day!  Wear Red Wings gear if you have it otherwise wear Detroit sports.  You may wear hats in the classroom but not at the assembly.

Specials: Art and Library
ELA: HW: Read for 30 + minutes at home, 1 sticky note due summing up the events that you read about during your 30 minutes of reading 
Writing: HW: 10 minutes of working on Lyric Poem or Free Writing
Vocabulary: define and draw a picture for all 15 new words - need to know how to spell all 15 by Friday and use them correctly in a sentence.  
Math: TenMarks assignment in class
Science: Test today
 
Wednesday is Read-a-Thon students are encouraged to at least sponsor themselves by bringing in $1.00 if they are unable to get any other sponsors.   
 
Wednesday is also Detroit Sports Spirit Day!  - We have a Detroit Red Wings assembly
 
Fundraiser delivery to EAST is scheduled for tomorrow by FedEx.  Pick- up detail to come in a separate email.  
 
Best of luck to our Battle of the Books Teams in their competition on Saturday at the Middle School.

Math: Area and Perimeter of 4 shapes - worksheet - due tomorrow
Science: complete the study guide - bring a book home - Test is Monday instead of tomorrow!  
 
Skating Party tonight at Tarry Hall East all school 6:30 - 8:30

ELA: HW read for 30 + minutes at home 
Reading: Storyworks Play - The Daring Escape of Henry Box Brown. Students had a packet to complete to practice making an inference, figurative language, setting and general comprehension. Packet is due tomorrow
Vocabulary: we have moved up to the next level of vocabulary and now have 15 words students need to know the meaning, how to spell and use the word correctly in a sentence. Due tomorrow is the definition and picture for each word in their reading response journal. 
WRITING: students are to write for 10 minutes at home. This can be on a topic of their choice or a free write.

ELA: HW: Read for 30 + minutes at home
Writing: 10 minute Free Write in your writer's notebook
Vocab./Spelling: prepare for assessment on Friday - know the spelling, meaning and be able to write a sentence for all 10 vocab. words.  
Math: Area & Perimeter worksheet - due tomorrow
Science: Investigated Rock Posters
Social Studies: Read Hurricane Katrina article and answer the questions in your social studies journal.
